Instructions for your Project
OVERVIEW OF THE NEXT THREE DAYS:
You will be working in teams of 2-3 to design the lightest possible carrier for a single egg. The egg will need to survive a drop from the catwalk without any cracks.
DAY ONE – INDEPENDENT: You will be researching Newton’s Three Laws of Motion in order to become familiar with the forces acting upon your egg drop carrier. Use the links below listed under “UNDERSTANDING THE DROP” in order to complete all of the questions listed on your web-quest questionnaire worksheet.
DAY TWO – GROUP: Collaborate to plan, budget for, and design the lightest possible egg carrier that will protect a single egg from a drop off the catwalk. Fill out your group design and budget sheet and show it to the teacher in order to receive your supplies. Construct your design. NO TESTING OUT OF THE CLASSROOM. Have your carrier ready for testing by the end of today!
DAY THREE – WHOLE CLASS: We will be testing your carriers in class on Tuesday, July 22.
